Terms
Last updated 2 November 2026.
Herald is an email service operated by Maverick Systems. Today it serves Maverick Systems’ own products; these terms apply to everyone given a project, a key or a place on a team.
Using Herald
- Keep your API keys and passkeys safe, and revoke a key you think has leaked; Console shows when each was last used.
- Everything sent through your project must follow the acceptable use policy.
- You’re responsible for the content of your email and for having permission to send it.
What we do
- We carry your mail and tell you what happened to it, keep your project apart from every other, and protect what we hold as described on the security and privacy pages.
- We may hold, limit or pause sending to protect recipients or the reputation every project shares, as the acceptable use policy describes.
- We change Herald from time to time, and say so in the changelog. Breaking changes to the API come with notice.
Your data
It’s yours. You can export your contacts and any person’s record at any time, and erase them; a one-way hash of an erased address stays, so nobody who asked not to be emailed is emailed again.
