Everything a product sends, and what comes back

Herald carries two kinds of email in two lanes, so a newsletter never slows a sign-in code: Dispatches (transactional email, sent the moment something happens) and Proclamations (marketing, to an audience, on a schedule). Then it tells you what happened to each one.

Dispatches: transactional email

The email your app can’t do without

Sign-in links, receipts and alerts, from the API or SMTP, in milliseconds. Every one is logged with what happened to it, and every outcome can reach your webhook.

  • REST and SMTP

Resend-compatible routes, an SDK, and SMTP on 465 and 587 with your API key as the password.

  • Templates

Design once in Console’s block editor, publish, and send by id with variables.

  • Idempotency

A retried request with the same key is one email, never two.

  • Test mode

Test keys never send: their mail lands in Console’s Test inbox.

Proclamations: marketing

Newsletters that keep your domain’s good name

Contacts, topics, lists and live segments; a composer with pre-flight checks; a canary before the rest; and breakers that stop a broadcast before mailbox providers stop you.

  • Audiences

Typed contact fields, topics people choose, static lists and segments that count as you build them.

  • Consent

Every contact carries how and when they agreed. Imports need your attestation, and prove themselves.

  • One-click unsubscribe

Every Proclamation carries it (RFC 8058), and the preference centre wears your brand, not ours.

  • Pre-flight checks

Alignment, the unsubscribe link, your postal address, the spam score, links and alt text.

  • A canary first

5% goes first. If complaints or bounces climb, the rest never goes.

  • Breakers

Past 0.2% complaints or 2% hard bounces at any provider, Herald pauses it and tells you.

Automations

Journeys, drawn rather than coded

Start from an event your app records, a new contact, a list or a date; then send, wait, branch and update, on a canvas. Each step runs once, however often it’s retried.

  • Triggers

A custom event from your app, a new contact, joining a list or topic, a date field, or by hand.

  • Steps

Send a template, wait (a while, until a time, or for an event), branch, change the contact, or call a webhook.

  • Rules

Re-entry, exit on unsubscribe, quiet hours and a frequency cap.

  • Test runs

Walk a draft for any contact and see the path, the waits and the emails, without sending.

Inbound

Mail to your app

Point an address at Herald and replies, support mail and forwarding addresses arrive at your webhook, authenticated and scored, sealed to your project the moment they land.

  • Routes

An address or a whole domain, on a domain you’ve verified.

  • Authenticated

SPF, DKIM, DMARC and ARC are checked and recorded, with a spam score.

  • Safe to open

Parsed in a sandbox; remote images held back until someone asks; attachments listed, never opened.
